Get to know Miss A: Your partner in learning
Welcome to Hey, Teacher!! I'm Miss A, and I'm thrilled to share my passion for education with you. With over 20 years of experience teaching across Michigan, from early childhood special education to college-level adult learning, my journey has been dedicated to guiding students toward success. I'm here to inspire and empower every learner to reach their full potential.

My journey in education
My teaching career spans over two decades, working with diverse age groups and subjects. Currently, I teach Early Childhood Special Education Preschool and Foundations for Success-GED at Lansing Community College. While I'm skilled in many areas, I especially love teaching math and science, helping students unravel complex concepts and build confidence. My goal is always to make learning accessible and exciting for everyone.

From hawaii to lifelong fitness
My roots trace back to the beautiful Kuliouou, Hawaii, where I attended Kamehameha Schools from 1975-1987. I hold a Bachelor's degree in Multidisciplinary Studies from Siena Heights University, which reflects my broad interests. Beyond the classroom, I'm a passionate advocate for fitness, teaching water fitness, lifeguarding, and swimming at the YMCA. My personal fitness journey began in Hawaii in the 1990s, fostering a holistic approach to well-being that I bring to all aspects of my life.

My adaptable teaching approach
Every student learns differently, and that's why my teaching philosophy is centered around individual needs. I believe in meeting each student exactly where they are. If a student struggles with a concept, I'm ready to teach it four different ways until we find the method that clicks for them. My greatest joy comes from helping students achieve their personal best, guiding them step-by-step towards their goals with understanding and personalized support.
"Miss A has an incredible ability to make complex subjects understandable. Her dedication to finding the right way to teach each student truly sets her apart. My child has thrived under her guidance!"
